Isla Mujeres, Mexico

About a 20 minutes ferry ride away from Cancun, Isla Mujeres is an island off the coast of Cancun and is a great alternative from the typical resort atmosphere. Offering an authentic vibe, you will be immersed in some of the best restaurants, bars, hotels, and beaches in the Mexican State of Quintana Roo. We discovered this island when we vacationed on a resort back in 2021, and booked a catamaran day tour. They stopped in Isla Mujeres for a few hours for everyone to wander around. We loved it, and told ourselves we would stay here next visit and we are so glad we did.

We stayed at the Hotel Secreto, which offers a private lap swimming pool and a nearly private beach. Our room had a walkout balcony that offered views of the ocean, great way to start your morning drinking coffee and planning out the day. The area we were in (North Beach) was easily walkable. We rented a golf cart one day to explore the rest of the island and adventure to some of the island’s best views (Punta Sur). Below you find a travel overview of Isla Mujeres, along with some personal recommendations. Happy Travels!
